Packaging, as a vital element, plays a key role in preserving quality and extending the shelf life of products. Understanding this importance, New World, a leader in blister packaging production for pharmaceuticals, offers innovative and creative solutions to its customers.

Blister packaging consists of a blister sheet and blister foil, where vacuum blistering creates cavities tailored to the shape and size of the medication. Vacuum Blister Packaging Process

Unlike skin packs, in vacuum blistering, a mold is first created, and the desired sheet is formed using the mold. The mold is placed on the machine, and the parts are positioned in the formed sheets. Then, using the blister machine, the sheet is adhered to cardboard, plastic, or foil (through a three-step process). In New World, blister printing and adhesion on cardboard are also done. Vacuum blister packaging is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry, where no air is present inside the package, protecting the product from environmental exposure.

This type of packaging is extensively used in the pharmaceutical, food, and industrial sectors.

Pharmaceutical Blister Packaging

Pharmaceutical blister packaging or vacuum pharmaceutical packaging is a process in which medications are vacuum-packed, removing all oxygen and other gases. This process helps to extend the shelf life of the medications, preventing spoilage, oxidation, and damage

Pharmaceutical Blister Packaging Materials:

Plastic materials (PVC, PVDC, HP, COC, HIPS)

Aluminum materials (foil) for packaging various pills, capsules, and some healthcare products.

Pharmaceutical blister packaging can be done in two ways: 1) Cold 2) Hot.

Hot Blister Packaging: This method uses heat to soften the raw materials.

Cold Blister Packaging: No heat is used; the process is done solely by applying pressure.

Cold-formed aluminum foil blistering involves designing and creating a mold, then using pressure and the mold to shape the aluminum foil. The mold consists of male and female parts.

The main advantage of this method is the increased longevity of the product, as it creates a complete barrier against water and oxygen.

For syringe and serum packaging, a layer of cellophane and a layer of medical paper (commonly used in the sterilization process of medical and dental tools) are utilized. Syringe packaging employs a thermoformer, a process known as Thermoforming or TFS.

The syringe packaging machine should be automatic, where a layer of cellophane is adhered to the medical paper.
