In the printing industry, gravure printing, also known as rotogravure, refers to the process of printing letters or images that are engraved into the surface. This is done using cast iron cylinders. Gravure printing is not cost-effective for low print runs and is generally used for printing on nylon, cellophane, polypropylene, and metallized films.
In gravure printing, even the finest letters are printed with dots, and the print quality is significantly higher than that of flexo printing.
High-volume catalogs and magazines, various packaging for sweets, snacks, dried fruits, postage stamps, and wallpaper are printed using gravure printing. This method produces images with exceptionally high quality, similar to photographic images, especially for prints ranging from 1 to 47.
