Silk Screen Printing on Fabric

Silk screen printing is a popular method for decorating fabric, known for its variety, clarity, and high durability, which has garnered many fans. In this method, the desired design is printed onto the fabric using a stencil (screen) and special ink.

Steps of Silk Screen Printing on Fabric

  1. Designing and Preparing the Stencil: The desired design is created on paper or transparent film and then transferred onto the screen using various methods such as photography, exposure, or laser cutting.
  2. Preparing the Fabric: The fabric must be clean, smooth, and free of any wrinkles before printing.
  3. Printing: The screen stencil is placed on the fabric, and ink is pressed through the screen with a special squeegee. The ink passes through the open areas of the screen, printing the desired design onto the fabric.
  4. Drying: After printing, the ink must be completely dried.

Advantages of Silk Screen Printing on Fabric

  • Variety of Designs and Colors: Ability to print various designs in diverse colors.
  • High Clarity and Quality: Printing with precise details and high clarity.
  • High Durability: The print is resistant to washing and abrasion.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Suitable for high-volume printing.

Applications of Silk Screen Printing on Fabric

  • Clothing: T-shirts, hoodies, pants, coats, etc.
  • Home Goods: Curtains, tablecloths, cushions, etc.
  • Promotional Products: Fabric bags, flags, banners, etc.

Important Tips for Silk Screen Printing on Fabric

  • Choosing the appropriate screen and ink for the fabric type.
  • Ensuring precise stencil preparation and proper frame alignment.
  • Using the right squeegee and applying the correct pressure.
  • Completely drying the ink.

In silk screen printing, a separate screen is used for each color. If the design has four colors, four separate screens are used, with each screen transferring one color to the fabric.

Silk screen printing is a method in which a designed image is printed onto a flat surface using screen meshes, ink, and special squeegees.

Steps of Silk Screen Printing

  1. The desired design is printed in black and white on vellum paper.
  2. The appropriate screen is chosen based on the target surface and fabric type. The screen is coated with a light-sensitive material and dried in a light-free environment. Exposure to light hardens the screen, creating the stencil.
  3. The special sheet containing the design is adhered to the stencil. The entire assembly is exposed to a strong light, which hardens the exposed areas while the areas covered by the design remain soft.

Each color requires a separate stencil. All parts where the emulsion remains soft are washed with water.

  1. The stencil is placed on a printing table, with the garment or fabric beneath it. Using a manual or automatic press, the ink is transferred to the fabric, and the final product must be dried.
