Hologram

8.1 Hologram

Whenever a product becomes popular for buyers and sale is increased, profiteers are tempted to market for low quality products with the same brand and appearance as the original one which damages the market and the product brand.

One of the newest and most reliable solutions available in recent years to deal with such abuse and duplication is the use of hologram.
Some of the products that subject to fraud and copyright and the use of holograms is useful for them include: Spare parts for automobiles and industrial machineries, electronics components, securities, cheque, guarantee card or label, passport, ID card, credit card, apparel, cosmetic products, membership and Institute certificates, etc.

Introducing hologram label
Holograms are optical products that are manufactured by laser technology, using advanced equipment and techniques. As we look at these labels under the light, we see color images that change with viewing angle, with a range of different colors. One of the interesting features of the hologram is the display of 3D images that cannot be copied and produced with other methods.

Some hologram features
– It cannot be reproduced and copied, even using the state-of-the-art copying and scanning methods.
– It cannot be removed and transferred from a place to another, and cannot be used if removed.
– Capability to include hidden images or codes within the hologram that are invisible under normal light, and only the manufacturer and owner of the hologram are aware of its location.
– Capability to include micro images or texts within the hologram, which can only be viewed with a magnifier or microscope depending on their size.
– Capability to be produced in different sizes, shapes, circulations, and colors.
– In order to get a basic hologram image, special optical equipment needs to be arranged in a certain order. The slightest change in the layout of the equipment changes the image and for this reason, it is not possible to reproduce a hologram for its original manufacturer

Types of hologram sensitivity
Depending on the type of use, hologram labels have different sensitivities to manipulation and removal from the surface on which the label is attached.
Sometimes the label may need to be repeatedly stripped off the surface and re-adhered without damage. In this case, the label is produced without sensitivity.
In the case of high sensitivity, if the label is removed, only the protective plastic layer is detached and the hologram design remains on the surface, which is unremovable.
The hologram can be produced in such a way that after its removal, parts of it remain in text or design on the surface. In this case which is known as the “void hologram”, expressions such as “voided” and “canceled” remain on the surface. If needed, it may produce a hologram label with any other designs.

Types of hologram effects

Three dimensional

In this type of hologram, the images are completely seen as 3D.

Two dimensional

It is the simplest effect which represents a shape or text as flat and two-dimensional.

Two-dimensional / three-dimensional

This is caused by two or more two-dimensional layers over each other, which gives the viewer a sense of dimension and depth.

Dot matrix

In this effect, tiny dots are arranged together in a special order, which are seen by the light emitting a regular spectrum of colors as linear, radial, spiral, and so on.

Animated images

In this effect, shapes or images can be included together in the hologram and you should use a magnifier or a microscope to see these shapes and texts.

Micron texts

In this case, shapes or texts can be included in the hologram in micron sizes. To see these shapes and texts, a state of motion or animation should be observed.

Secret code

In this effect, one can places codes inside the hologram that is invisible under normal light, and you need to shine laser light on the hologram.

Multi-channel images

In this case, hologram is designed and produced in a way that if you look at it from different angles, you will see different images.

Guilloche

This effect consists of a large number of lines and curves produced by computer, using specific mathematical formulas. After the hologram is produced, copying and redesigning them is very difficult and almost impossible, which increases the security of the hologram.

Types of hologram modes

Glossy hologram

This type of hologram is produced as glossy, so that after gluing on the surface, both the hologram and the surface on which the hologram is glued are seen. This type of hologram is commonly used on documents and ID cards.

Serialized Hologram

It may print numbers or codes on the hologram serially or in any other order. These codes are inserted on hologram labels as printed, glossy, or engraved.
